Windows 7 Keyboard Shortcuts Help Sheet


If you do a lot of typing on your computer, taking your hands off the keyboard to move the mouse can slow down your productivity.

Here’s a help sheet to every single keyboard shortcut in Windows 7. Be sure to bookmark this page as a reference so you’ll never forget a keyboard shortcut again!
Some of these keyboard short-cuts may also work with other versions of Windows, previous and future versions. All of them work with Windows 7 


General Windows 7 Keyboard Shortcuts


Win + Up – Maximizes the active Window
Win + Down – Minimizes the active Window
Win + Left – Docks the active Window to the left half of the screen
Alt + Tab – Switch between Windows with the basic interface
Win + Right – Docks the active Window to the right half of the screen
Win + Number – Launch any pinned program on the Taskbar by using the number of its location from left to right.
Win + Space – Makes all Windows transparent allowing you to see the desktop
Win + Pause/Break – System Information
Win + Tab – Switch between Windows with Aero 3D
Win + D – Show the desktop
Win + E – Launch Windows Explorer
Win + F – Launch the Search Window
Win + G – Show your 
gadgets
Win + L – Lock your computer
Win + M – Minimizes all Windows
Win + P – Launches the projection options Window
Win + R – Launches the “Run” Window
Win + T – Displays thumbnail preview of active applications in the Taskbar without mouse over
Ctrl + Arrow + Spacebar – Selects multiple items on the desktop or in a Window
Ctrl + Shift + Esc – Launches the Windows Task Manager
Ctrl + Shift + N – Creates a new folder
Win + X – Mobility Centre
Win + = – Launches the Magnifier tool
Win + (+ or -) – Launches the Magnifier tool and zooms in/out
Win + Shift + Up – Maximizes vertical size for the active Window
Win + Shift + Down – Restores vertical window size
Win + Shift + Right – Jump to right monitor
Win + Shift + M – Launches all minimized Windows


Typing Windows 7 Keyboard Shortcuts


Ctrl + Right – Moves the cursor to the beginning of the next word
Ctrl + Left – Moves the cursor to the beginning of the previous word
Ctrl + Up – Moves the cursor to the beginning of the previous paragraph
Ctrl + Down – Moves the cursor to the beginning of the next paragraph
Ctrl + Shift + Arrow Key – Selects a block of text depending on how many times you push the arrow key


Windows Explorer Windows 7 Keyboard Shortcuts


Ctrl + N: Opens a new window
Ctrl + W: Closes the current window
Ctrl + Shift + N: Creates a new folder
Num Lock + Asterisk (*) on numeric keypad: Display all subfolders under the selected folder
Num Lock + Plus Sign (+) on numeric keypad: Display the contents of the selected folder
Num Lock + Minus Sign (-) on numeric keypad: Collapses the selected folder
Alt + Enter: Launches the Properties dialog box for the selected item
F11: Maximize or minimize the active window
Ctrl + Period (.): Rotates a picture clockwise
Ctrl + Comma (,): Rotates a picture counter-clockwise
Alt + P: Displays the preview pane
Alt + Left Arrow: Launches the previous folder
Backspace: Go back the previous folder
Alt + Right Arrow: Launches the next folder
Alt + Up Arrow: Launches the parent folder
Ctrl + Shift + E: Displays all folders above the selected folder
Ctrl + Mouse scroll wheel: Changes the size and appearance of file and folder icons
Alt + D: Select the address bar


Ease of Access Windows 7 Keyboard Shortcuts


Left Alt + Left Shift + PrintScreen (or PrtScn): Turns High Contrast on or off
Left Alt + Left Shift + Num Lock: Turns Mouse Keys on or off
Push the Shift Key five Times: Turns Sticky Keys on or off
Hold down the Num Lock for five seconds: Turns Toggle Keys on or off
Windows logo key + U: Launches the Ease of Access Centre
